The included Komplete software requires another DAW (like Maschine, Ableton Live, Logic, etc.) in order to record, play back, edit, and mix your music. However, the included software is not like Maschine, which provides a poor man's DAW - a means to record, play back, edit, and mix musical scores. It is simple to play and manipulate sounds without ever having to look at the computer screen. For example, with the included Massive synth, each sound comes with 8 macro knobs that are automatically assigned to the keyboard's 8 knobs, and correctly labeled. The included software is great for having a wide variety of playable instruments in all kinds of musical genres, and for leveraging the keyboard's software/hardware integration. I'd rate this 4.5 out of 5 stars only because the integration with Ableton Live doesn't allow me to fully leverage the unique integration that is possible with Native Instruments' Maschine or Komplete software.
